The BCCI Snub: A Turning Point
In 2023, Shreyas Iyer faced a major setback when he was excluded from the BCCI’s central contract list. This decision reportedly stemmed from his refusal to play a Ranji Trophy match for Mumbai due to a back injury. However, Iyer used this setback as motivation to prove his worth. He returned to domestic cricket with renewed focus and delivered stellar performances across formats:

His leadership qualities and tactical acumen have made him one of the most successful captains in recent IPL history.
Under Iyer’s captaincy, PBKS started their 2025 campaign with two consecutive wins, extending his streak as an IPL captain to eight consecutive victories.
