Fans and Cricket experts have started lashing out at RCB after the Mega Auction of IPL 2025. The main reason for their rage is due to pathetic team building in Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammad Siraj, and Harshal Patel are the only 3 Bowlers having bagged more than 75 wickets for RCB in IPL. Now the franchise has lost all of them and their auction sums up to be a failure from the audience’s point of view.
However, there are a few who are still supporting the decision of Royal Challengers Bengaluru. They say that the team was wise in selecting the players with caution and even if they had to lose a few players, they were well aware of it and had a strategic move behind it.
Let’s discuss in detail what fans, and cricket experts, have been saying about RCB’s team building for IPL 2025.
Blunders of RCB Despite 2nd Highest Purse Value of INR 83 Crore.
PBKS (Punjab Kings) had the highest purse value of INR 110.5 crore and next comes RCB (Royal Challengers Bengaluru) with INR 83 crore. Despite having entered the IPL 2025 mega auction with 2nd biggest purse value, RCB failed to acquire some of the finest cricketers.
Fans feel that it was a blunder to let go of the opportunity to secure prominent players like Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Mitchell Starc.
Signing new players was a far-to-go concept for the RCB, but at least they could have held players who performed well for them. And here is why the controversy and backlashes started arising when Royal Challengers Bengaluru decided not to make use of the RTM (Right to Match) option for Mohammed Siraj.
Gujarat Titans had bought Mohammed Siraj for a value of INR 12.25 crore, supporters began expressing their hatred towards RCB’s decision to let go of their team’s star performer Siraj.
Key Signings of RCB (Royal Challengers Bengaluru)
Despite brutal trolls on RCB for not utilizing the mega auction properly, few cricket experts see the key signings of the franchise. Royal Challengers Bengaluru have secured Liam Livingstone, one of England’s versatile and finest all-rounder. He is capable of contributing explosive batting as well as skillful bowling to the team.
On top of that, RCB had strengthened their squad by adding Australian star players such as:
Josh Reginald Hazlewood:
Popularly known as Josh Hazlewood, the 33-year-tall Australian pace bowler is well known for his bowling accuracy on stumps. Also, he is often being compared to former Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath due to the bowling pace he delivers. Undoubtedly, Josh Hazlewood is a proven pace bowler with a good experience in T20 cricket. Now that RCB has acquired him, few cricket experts have expressed their hope about his performance in IPL 2025.
Timothy Hays David:
Popularly known as Tim David, the 28-year-old talented Singaporean-Australian is a perfect middle-order batsman who is also the best finisher at times. Tim is well known for his aggressive batting style, even under a highly pressured situation. Now that RCB has acquired Tim David, finally the franchise has got its finisher in the batting lineup.
LSG vs. RCB Tweet War during the Bidding War!
Rishabh Pant was the most desired player during the IPL 2025 Mega Auction due to his energetic play and became the top expensive player in the history of the Indian Premier League. LSG (Lucknow Super Giants) acquired Rishabh Pant for a lucrative deal of INR 27 Crore bid.
Although RCB (Royal Challengers Bengaluru) had competed to secure Rishabh Pant, they could not consistently continue their bidding after the INR 11.25 Crore mark. As they stopped bidding after that, LSG signed Rishabh Pant to their franchise.
During the intense bidding war, the official X page of Royal Challengers Bengaluru tweeted a Spider-Man GIF with a controversial caption. The RCB’s caption for their GIF was posted as “Maybe on his way to the Chinnaswamy?”. And, this referred to Rishabh Pant’s nickname “Spiddyy”, which further ignited a conversation among fans in the comment section.
But soon after the Lucknow Super Giants acquired Rishabh Pant for INR 27 Crore, they immediately replied to RCB’s tweet with a Doctor Strange GIF. And, the LSG’s official X page has not captioned it, as the GIF itself had a text that says “Sorry Kid”.
In return, LSG gave a trolling response that left RCB in embarrassment and further, the fans joined the trolling. However, most of them immediately tweeted saying “Was this necessary for RCB to get self-trolled from both sides? One is that, despite having 2nd highest purse value they couldn’t secure Rishabh Pant while LSG has successfully acquired for 27 Crore. The second is that the franchise could have worked strategy to build their team rather than searching GIF for tweets during bidding”.
